Future Guest Stars
"The Simpsons" has had 3 Beatles, a who's-who of musicial acts and singers, and the likes of Phil Hartman, Kelsey Grammar, and John Lovitz appear on the show. But who hasn't appeared, and how would the writers work them on the show? This section attempts to answer that question and find fresh ideas for how today's celebrities could guest on the show, and a brief introduction to how the plot of the episode might turn out.
Denzel Washington
Possible role: Homer decides to write the great American novel after listening to the radio talking about first-time novelists, but quickly learns it's harder than it looks. Frustrated, he decides to hire a ghost-writer (Washington) to write the novel for him, and is surprised to learn it makes the bestseller list.
Tom Hanks
Possible role: Maggie's intelligence is noticed and she is placed in a special school for gifted infants. There a teacher (Hanks) gives her the attention her father doesn't give her and the freedom her mother deprives.
Katie Holmes
Possible role: Lisa is placed in a club for gifted young writers in Springfield. When she attends the club's first meeting at Springfield High School, she meets an intelligent and independent girl (Holmes) who becomes a dear friend and mentor.
Brad Pitt
Possible role: When Brad Pitt comes to Springfield to publicize a new movie, Marge and the Springfield women become smitten with him. Homer and the men of the town, scared their wives will forget about them, fight to pass a law banning male celebrities within the town limits.
Martin ShortPossible role: An eccentric millionaire (Short) sees and loves some of Marge's early paintings, and decides to buy them to add to his collection of art by Marge's generation. But conflict arises when Marge realizes she will be selling off a part of her youth.
Adam SandlerPossible role: After Homer wins a jackass-inspired contest for money after realizing his resistance to pain, he realizes he finally has a competition he's excellent at. When he decides to enter the nationals gunning for a huge cash prize, however, he comes up against a lunatic who's a pro at causing himself pain (Sandler).
Mike MyersPossible role: Lisa's saxophone wailings are heard by a record producer (Myers) who decides that she could make great CD's, provided she agree to do soulless Kenny G-like ballads. Lisa is miserable with the fact she has to play songs with no heart, and when she comes on stage at a concert, she reverts back to her jazz-blues wailings, ending her music gig but making her happy.
Kirsten DunstPossible role: Bart decides to try out for cheerleading after he hears that the president, George W. Bush, was a male cheerleader, figuring it's the easy road to success. But he soon realizes it's a cut-throat world, especially when there's one girl (Dunst) determined to have her friend's cheerleading team do better than Bart's.
Ben SteinPossible role: When Ms. Krabappel goes on a vacation with Skinner, a droll and dull teacher (Stein) is brought in as the sub for Bart's class. Realizing he will die of boredom if he stays in the classroom, Bart leads all the kids to go on strike against the school, sending the sales in some Springfield stores through the roof, and leaving all the teachers very happy.
Dan AkroydPossible role: Mayor Quimby announces there will be a town-wide initiative to become better then Shelbyville, thereby getting more new families to move in and more money for the mayor. When Shelbyville finds out, their mayor (Akroyd) decides to fight fire with fire, and total chaos breaks out as the towns attempt to one-up each other.
South Park GangPossible role: In a cross-over rife with merchandising oppurtunities, Stan, Kyle, Kenny, and Cartman move into Springfield, changing the small town for the worse. It's up to Bart and Lisa to get the 4 children out of Springfield and take back their community.
Bill MurrayPossible role: An employee (Murray) who outdoes Homer at weight, incompetence, and stupidity takes a job at the plant, and proceeds to get promoted over Homer after only two weeks. Homer embarks on a plan to take the manager position from the new guy, but runs into a hitch when Burns thinks the new employee is Homer.
Dave ChappellePossible role: When Lisa in confronted with the sadness of poverty when she meets a crack addict (Chappelle), she attempts to get Mr. Burns to give his fortune away to charity.
Will FerrellPossible role: A competing clown in Springfield (Ferrell) forces Krusty out of business. Depressed, Krusty seeks the help of his father, who leads him to become a rabbi.
Tom CruisePossible role: Bart comes under the influence of a partying 30-something (Cruise), who leads Bart to spend large amounts of time away from the house. Marge and Homer become worried, so they pay Milhouse to fake a disease so Bart will come back.
Jerry SeinfeldPossible role: With Ms. Krabappel out of town, the grade four class at Springfield Elementary is given a substitute (Seinfeld) and Bart instantly takes a shining to him. Seinfeld's 'learning can be fun' attitude has Bart enjoying school until he realizes he's become a nerd.
Jack NicholsonPossible role: A friendly, religious, well mattered man (Nicholson) moves next to the Simpsons. His kind and thoughtful nature doesn't win over an annoyed Homer who feels he's surrounded by Flanders's.
Ben AffleckPossible role: In order to get a passing grade, Bart is forced to join the school band where he discovers his natural talent on the trumpet. With both gifted Simpsons now in the band, Skinner is not ashamed to enter the group in their first competition. They're path to victory comes to a halt when the meet a snotty, stuck up kid (Affleck) from an opposing school who's determined to win his fifth straight first place.
Jim CarreyPossible role: While mayor Quimby is on vacation, a new political head (Carrey) is appointed into office. With radical idea's and irrational thinking, his plan to make Springfield a better place results in complete madness throughout the town, and schools and workplaces in disarray.
Michael J. FoxPossible role: After getting into fights and causing arguments all around his school, Bart's antics finally catch up with him. Fed up, Principal Skinner arranges for Bart to be paired up with a similar 10 year old trouble maker (Fox) in Shelbyville Elementary. Using teamwork and cooperation as their guidelines, the two are forced to turn the worst 7 year old local hockey team to ever hit the ice, into a winning squad.
Norm MacdonaldPossible role: The Simpsons horseplay and food fighting at an amusement park gets the park cleaner (Macdonald) fired after other people start to complain. Feeling guilty, Homer works on getting him a new job, but soon realizes he isn't qualified for anything.
Matt DamonPossible role: A new worker (Damon) takes a job at the plant, and is a model of efficiency and productivity that Burns loves. Seeing a chance to latch onto someone's coat-tails, Homer befriends the worker and tries to become great friends with his future supervisor, yet winds up leading him into laziness and incompetence.
Maura TierneyPossible role: In a mild take-off of "ER" that lasts for the first part of the episode, Lisa breaks her arm when Bart forces her to try riding her bike down a steep hill. While Lisa is recuperating, she meets a kindly nurse (Tierney) who she instantly bonds with. Hopefully starring some other members of the "ER" cast in cameos.
Anna PaquinPossible role: A young beauty (Paquin) with a drinking problem frequents Moe's Tavern constantly, and becomes the tomboyish friend of most of the guys. Problems start to arise, however, when Moe becomes attracted to her and cares less about his bar.
Hugh JackmanPossible role: When a reality series focusing on Springfield Elementary is conceived and filming begins, the school becomes under the mercy of the show executive producer (Jackman).
Michael RichardsPossible role: After a series of robberies hit Springfield, a special detective is brought in (Richards), but he proves to be just as if not more incompetent than Chief Wiggum.
Ryan StilesPossible role: A new mascot for the Shelbyville baseball team (Stiles) brings in fans from Springfield, bankrupting the Springfield Isotopes. With no team, the stadium is closed, and the town loses all its cherished events like the Truckasaurus. Desparate for entertainment, Bart, Homer, and Lisa attempt to get the mascot to retire in order to bring back their lost stadium.
Mark WahlbergPossible role: Marge becomes infatuated with a construction worker who comes to the Simpson house after Bart blows up his room. Homer sees his wife is losing interest, but rather than try to improve himself, he sets about trying to hurt the contruction worker and make it look like an accident.
Julianne Moore
Possible role: A beautiful detective comes to Springfield (Moore) to investigate a string of animal kidnappings. Eventually, her trail leads to Moe, and the barflies have to work hard to clear their supplier of alcohol's name - whether or not it deserves to be.
Ray LiottaPossible role: A depressed older man (Liotta) who bears a striking resemblance to Ray Liotta moves into Springfield as a bum. He enters the forefront of the help-the-homeless drive in Springfield after Lisa sees him help stop a criminal, but soon begins to resent the fact his life story is being played for publicity.
Colin MochriePossible role: A new clown comes to Springfield, and Krusty recognizes his talent and puts him on his newly-ressurected show. However, he soon begins to get bigger laughs than Krusty, driving him down to second billing.
Al PacinoPossible role: A new tough-as-nails coach for Bart's baseball team leads the team to great success. But as baseball starts taking over Bart's life, the family sees less and less of him, and Milhouse becomes depressed because he was not allowed to join the team.
Gwyneth PaltrowPossible role: A beautiful singer (Paltrow) comes to a local jazz bar, driving Moe's Tavern to near-bankruptcy by attracting all the men in the city to watch her sing. Moe decides to take matters into his own hands, but stops short of ending the singer's career when he himself falls in love with her. Deciding that if he can't beat them, he should join them, he takes the rest of the money he has and hires the singer to play at his bar, bringing back his customers.
Morgan FreemanPossible role: A wise elder man (Freeman) calmly predicts the end of the world will come in three days. After the man correctly predicts other things, the townspeople start to believe the man, and decide to make their last days their best. After they've had their fill of rioting, the Simpsons decide to see Italy after the family draws straws, deciding they may as well spend their last hours somewhere better than Springfield. After touring Italy and seeing all the famous landmarks, the Simpsons return home for what they think will be their last hours, only to learn when they get back that the elder man had rigged his predictions and was just trying to draw some attention. Sending him out of Springfield with the town catapult, the city reunites and cleans up the mess they made.
Kevin SpaceyPossible role: An earnest, underconfident man (Spacey) shows up in Springfield, and the townspeople good-naturedly give him as much aid and hospitality as they can. It becomes clear though, after things start to vanish, that the visitor may be a con man.
Diane KeatonPossible role: Milhouse's generous aunt (Keaton) comes to stay with the Van Houtens, and proceeds to spoil Milhouse incredibly. She buys him a pet python before she heads out of town, thrilling the young boy. When it gets out though, Milhouse enlists Bart's help to catch it, hoping they can subdue it before the upcoming town parade.
Robert DeNiro
Possible role: A lonely old man (DeNiro) moves into Grampa's retirement home, and Abe decides to make him feel better by keeping him company. Soon though, herealizes that this man might have a few secrets that would be valuable to divulge...
Don Cherry
Possible role: Mayor Quimby calls a Springfield election, and a hardnosed candidate (Cherry) turns out to be his leading opponent. His straight to the point and hard-nosed style wins over the entire town, and is elected to office by a landslide. In his victory speech however, the new mayor makes some edgy comments which questions Springfield if they voted for the right candidate.
Ashton Kutcher
Possible role: A new fourth grader (Kutcher) challenges Bart's role as stupidest kid in the class, and Bart isn't happy about it. As low grades begin being outdone by the newcomer, Bart worries his trademark F's are slowly slipping away. In a plot to regain his position in the class, he begins purposely failing tests, but quickly learns getting lower marks than the new guy is tougher than he thought.
Jennifer Aniston
A saleswomen (Aniston) storms into Sprinfield boasting a new beauty cream that supposedly works wonders. Some smooth talking and tip-toeing around the truth wins over women all over the town, who fork over money for the miracle cream. When they soon realize they were taken in by a hoax, Marge and company revolt, leading a search for the crafty fraud.
Gordon Pinsent
A new retired Springfieldian (Pinsent) moves into the Retirement Castle, and becomes instant friends with Abe Simpson. Their personalities and bitter nature areidentical, and quickly develop a natural bond. When discussing their pasts however, they both find out that they fought side by side in WWII, and used to hate each other. Their current friendship comes into question over their less than friendly past.
Howie Mandel
After repeated cases of food poisoning in Springfield causes city-wide panic, Mayor Quimby appoints a health inspector (Mandel) to control the growing epidemic. Although Quimby is praised for his decisive action, the town soon learns the inspector is an extreme germaphobe, bent on shutting down the town's 'finest' dining establishments. Led by Homer, the town revolts against the inspector in an attempt to regain their favourite bars and restaurants.
Owen Wilson
A new kid (Wilson) joins Springfield Elementary and instantly catches the attention of the female-half of the playground. As the girls fight over the charming fourth-grader, Bart's jealousy mounts, and his frustration soon becomes public knowledge. When Bart observes the new hearth-throb "hanging with the bad kids" after school, he rushes the news back to Springfield Elementary, but his accusation is greeted with considerable scepticism. Bart's mission to reveal the new kid's double life becomes even more pressing when the fourth-grade hot-shot announces he's chosen his girlfriend from the school's adoring females -- Lisa.
Larry David
When a Springfield native and noted author (David) publishes an emotionally uprising book, the town becomes caught up in its wave of positivity, prompting many locals to emulate the book's charitably-themed messages. Accordingly, Marge's book club is ecstatic when the author agrees to return to his hometown for a special appearance at their next meeting. Smitten by the book, Springfieldians flock to the event, but when they discover the book's author is a miserable, inconsiderate pessimist, they begin to question the validity of the book's messages as well as their new way of life.
Steve Carell
Hoping to improve efficiency, Powerplant bosses from Springfield, Shelbyville, and Ogdenville swap cities for a week to observe each other's plants and their various strengths and weaknesses. Springfield Powerplant workers are ecstatic at the proposition of a week without Burns until they meet their temporary boss replacement from Ogdenville. (Carell) His eccentric personality, arrogant nature, and craving for popularity disgust Homer, Carl, Lenny, and the rest of the Powerplant crew, and as worker moral drops, they begin to realize just how much they miss Mr. Burns.
